Proof That Rainy Day Brides Are The Luckiest

So I know most people would prefer clear skies on their big day but, word on the street is, we have a bit of a rough winter ahead of us. Today's post is just a little reminder that you can have an uber-beautiful wedding no matter the season! Not only is wedding-day-rain supposed to bring good luck, it also looks damn good in pictures! See below for a few of my personal favorite "bad weather" inspo photos!

Fall at Holman Ranch // Featured on Style Me Pretty

We had so much fun designing and planning this one. We had such a wonderful team together at Holman Ranch playing with some moody colors and blush accents. Here are some of my favorite shots (there were just too many not to share!) and you can see more on Style Me Pretty as well!

Air Plant Boutonnieres

Okay, get ready because you're totally gonna wanna steal this idea. Today I thought I'd share the perfect, modern alternative to regular floral boutonnieres. The answer - air plants!

In case the pictures below don't have you convinced let me talk you into it...

Air plants, otherwise known as tillandsia, are great because they're considered eco-friendly, due to the fact that they require very little water to stay alive. They come in several different forms and will give more of a masculine feel to your hubby-to-be's attire than their floral counterparts. Bonus - these little babies will live on long past your wedding day so you can keep them at home as an awesome moment!

Lake Tahoe Wedding by Pictilio + Merrily Wed

I'm so excited to share this beautiful Lake Tahoe by some of my favorite photographers, Pictilio. They always impress me with the fun and perfect shots they get, and this feature is riddled with some stunning photos. The setting was beautiful, the decor was so fun and personal and this couple looks like they had so. much. fun. And that is what it is all about now, isn't it?!

From the Bride: In planning our wedding we tried to keep our guests in mind as we thought through the details. For Garrett and I, our wedding was a celebration of our love, union, and commitment to each other, but also an experience that we wanted to share with our friends and family. We had guests traveling from all over the country to celebrate "us", so we kept this in mind as we planned our wedding, focusing on the experience that the wedding would provide for our guests. With our wedding being in October, and at an indoor/outdoor venue in the mountains, we realized that the weather could be a gamble, so we provided blankets, heat lamps, and an indoor escape to ensure comfort for the guests, in addition to a fire pit on the pier to allow guests to escape from the celebrations to take in the Lake Tahoe surroundings and warm by the fire. While we lucked out in that the day went entirely as planned, I would highly recommend for brides to have some sort of back up option or weather contingency plan, especially if planning an outdoor wedding. In the weeks leading up to our wedding Lake Tahoe experienced severe fires followed by a snow storm; this definitely kept us on edge, but by having a back up plan to move our ceremony indoors if need be, we were able to enjoy the moments leading up to our wedding, and to not have to worry about the elements (such as weather) that were out of our control. This helped us to relax and just enjoy our whole wedding weekend!
