My Favorite Accessory

It was almost one year ago today that I received my favorite accessory.

Derek popped the questions the day before Thanksgiving while we were visiting family in the Bay Area. We met in San Francisco so the city will always hold a special place in our hearts. He proposed overlooking the city after we shared a bottle of wine at the wine bar where we had our first date. It could not have been more perfect!

I had absolutely no part in picking my ring. Derek did it all himself and spent months looking for the perfect one. And he did! The ring is vintage from the 1920's and has extra significance because some of the accent diamonds were replaced with diamonds from his grandmother's engagement ring.

It's hard to believe that a year has already flown by. Something tells me it will be hard for this Thanksgiving to live up to last years!

Bling in the New Year!

Christmas and New Year's are a very popular time to get engaged. So to new readers, congrats and welcome to the wonderful world of wedding planning! The first question most brides get is, "Can I see your ring?" It is such a fun time to show off your new rock! So, new (or old!) brides- what does your ring look like? Did you go classic? Modern? Antique? Custom? Personally, I fell in love with a band and could never find it as a setting, so my wonderful fiancé had one custom made at Washington Diamond, near Washington D.C. They were amazing to work with! I was so surprised! Did you pick out your own ring? Or trust your man to do so?

I snuck on my wedding band when Dan wasn't looking! :)

Here are some other beautiful rings (and creative ring shots!) for your enjoyment!

So share with me what your ring story or send a picture to me (madelinepage@gmail.com) and next week I'll show them all off! Let's bling in the new year right!

My Wedding Bands

I think this is the point where I got a little too far ahead of myself-looking at wedding bands!  Finding a band to match the settings of the diamonds has been a bit challenging for me so I always want to look.

The guy helping me said he had a perfectly fitting band for me, so I tried it on. Since they were petite, I wanted to see what two looked like! In the end I decided to buy them so I could "try them on" a bit more to see if I really liked them, and because once their stock goes-you can't get it anymore. I know I shouldn't have as I will either be tempted to wear them, or they have to sit in my closet for a year, but I wanted to. I have a couple of issues with them, but I don't know how much they will really bother me.

The top two photos are wearing both bands as "one" band in the wedding band area. The bottom two have a band on each side. I don't know which way I want to wear them though. The ring has diamonds on either side of band so the wedding bands cover all of those.

Should I keep those bands or keep looking for something I love love love? I do have about a year, so something is bound to come along I would think.

PS: My hands are horrif in these pictures...and they are all personal photos so the quality is not very good either. Sorry!
