Taming the Locks

This week I'm trying to find a hair stylist in the small town where we'll be getting married. And while looking for someone, I've been searching for a lot of inspiration. I've known from the beginning that I want to wear my hair up - but that was about as much as I had decided. Source: left, right

It looks like I'm drawn to styles that are soft, romantic, and a little messy. :-)

Which one is your favorite? Did you know from the beginning how you wanted your hair?

Picking The Perfect 'Do

I am still coming down from the high of one of my best friend’s wedding this past weekend. It was amazing – I am actually kind of sad it is over! And I am hoping to share more details of her wedding in a future post. But this weekend did get me thinking about something that I hadn’t really thought about before – how am I going to wear my hair on my big day? I know that might be a weird thought, but all of us bridesmaids had our hair done this past weekend and several people asked me how I was going to wear my hair for my wedding and I had absolutely no idea!

For the last two weddings I was a bridesmaid in, I went with a high ballerina bun. I like that it is off my face, it’s fun and I don’t have to worry about wind or my very aggressive dancing messing it up.

And though I still love this look, I am not sure if I want it for my big day. Niall has said he wants my hair down (he also wants me to wear no make-up – obviously not happening!).

But I think my dress might look best with an up-do. And I also like not worrying about wind, or curls falling out (which is basically inevitable with my hair).

Any advice on figuring this out? Did you figure it out at your hair trial or know all along what you wanted?

I Want That Hair!

Source: Kiss the Groom I have naturally red hair and up until about a year ago, I had never enhanced the color or done anything of that sort. I started doing some highlights here and there, but nothing special (I literally do highlights maybe twice a year...and you can't really see the "root"). I have never gotten to the point of fully dying it or doing anything too extreme.

So why am I telling you this probably boring story about my hair?? Well, I think for the wedding I want to do something pretty big. I want to have "statement hair" if you will. Not pink or green, but like the picture above. It is super bright and vibrant, but still looks natural. I can't do this a week before the wedding because what if I just look horrid?? Anyways, that color with my skin tone and in a white dress is gorgeous as far as I can picture it! I'll have to consult Sylvia (my hair girl) because I am sure she can help me out with a good color.

Hair Ideas

The possibilities are endless! Up or down, veil, birdcage veil, or just a flower? I love curls and when it doesn't look absolutely perfect. The "this looks like it only took an hour when it really took about 5" look is definitely one of my faves.

I have been keeping my hair long so that I have multiple options. I love long curly hair down, but these pictures really temp me! How are you thinking of doing your hair???
