{Fab Decor} Coffee Filter Wedding Inspiration

I so was not aware of the possibilities of coffee filters until now. OMG people can be so darn creative with little round papers meant for the amazingness that is coffee. Dying paper is pretty easy. I used water and coffee and an oven. It was time consuming to say the least, but it became practically second nature after a few months. Anywho, this gave me SO many ideas for future decor. This first shoot is totally incredible. I'm loving every piece of it.

I have recently become really obsessed with hanging fixtures, and these poofy ones are even better than I could have pictured. The lamp was made from coffee filters.

I am always loving bouquet alternatives. I guess because I had 7 bridesmaids and wasn't interested in spending hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on bouquets for them. I'm telling you, 7 is A LOT! So these are sup awesome paper bouquets that would look so great with some good looking BMs.

Pastel filters? Ummm yes please. All these are so wonderful and would look so great decorating a ceiling every now and again. I love the take on paper pom poms, different, yet the same. Faves! Anything with clothes pins has my vote.

Lastly and most definitely not least, a dress made entirely of coffee filters! OMG.

Inspiring Finds

This shoot is absolutely amazing in so many ways. The concept of black swan/white swan was done perfectly here and all with some very high fashion wedding accents. I'm loving every image of this story. I only picked a few favorites, but check out the rest on Jessica Claire's blog.

I'm really really loving chevron and other bold patterns. I know I am probably late on the chain, but I really don't care. People have told me that since I apparently know how to throw a really good party, I need to have an annual wedding of sorts to reunite everyone.  Obvious not a whole wedding, but a really big party was be lots of fun. If I do that, these are in the running for the best napkins to date. But who knows, I may be preoccupied preparing for ....... a baby. So, we will see.

Lastly, these little cd sleeves gave me a really fun idea for an invitation. I may or may not be preparing an event in which invitations are in order. :) I love the idea of creating a video (I really wanted to do that for the wedding actually, but time was not on our side) and wrapping the CD in twine with some other paper goodies would be just awesome.

There Ain't No Party Like A Paper Party

You must excuse me today as I am dealing with a whole different set-up which is just taking some getting used to! What do I mean by that? Well, the worst thing (and yes, I know there could be worse things) happened yesterday.

It may sound like I am exaggerating when I say that the worst thing happened to me yesterday, but I am totally not. Something to know is that my life is my computer. I work for myself and I work from home, so without my handy little MacBook Pro, it would be very hard to get anything done in the world. And yesterday of all days was deadline day where I had about 20 articles due. Yesterday morning I went to Peets to find my computer continually acting up, so I went to the genius bar. It wouldn't even turn on by the time I brought it in. He thought it was the logic board that basically runs the whole computer that was out. It costs about $450 to repair not to mention being out of a computer for the next few days. He came back and said there was some sort of water and sticky stuff in the computer that messed with the logic board and the battery. Major bummer. The guy was nice but he told me that this is where the conversation gets a whole lot harder because it costs about $800 to repair. Major bummer. Although I was sort of happy with the idea of just getting a brand new computer.

Anyways, I was really annoyed and freaking out about what to do without a computer at least for the rest of the day when he came back. He said he briefly told his manager what the problem was and the manager told him to cover the repairs (aka FREE) and ship it out! WHAT??? OMG, I was shocked. $800 worth of repairs and the only downside was I didn't have a computer for a week. I'll take it. So we shipped it out and he let me go off on my merry way thanking me for being an Apple customer. And that is when it hit me how smart Apple is. Most other people would take their $800 elsewhere and never deal with Apple again. By repairing it for free they kept me as an Apple customer for life. Although, let's face it, I was already an apple customer for life.

So for the next week my dad let me use his windows computer. I was skeptical at first, but I am getting used to it. He even has one with the tap-to-click mouse pad. The only major issue I have with this thing is that you have to use the mouse to manually scroll down every time you want to move the window! OMG how annoying is that. Normally I just put two fingers on the mouse pad and it scrolls. So tell me people, how do you deal with that???? OMG it is such a waste of time! Aside from that it is just a matter of getting used to not having my programs, not having my passwords saved everywhere and things like that.

OK now that that whole story is over with, let's talk paper! I abso-freaking-lutely love all the amazing things you can do with paper! And with any color you ever want, the options are definitely endless. I actually think I could have/should have used more fun papers in my wedding. So for a truly spring wedding, add a little bit of pizazz with these little guys!

I love simple little flags with something super fun on them. It is by far one of the easiest ways to personalize a wedding ever!

Frame It Up

I'm re-visiting the idea of frames. I have had it in my mind but in a totally different way. What I want to look at is using frames as trays and how those would fit with everything else. I am not adding something new here because I was always planning on using trays, but this is just a way more fun (and a lot harder to facilitate) way to incorporate the trays.

This feature on Elizabeth Anne Designs has been an all time favorite of mine since it came out. I keep going back to it to look at all the details yet again. It is so gorgeous and amazing and I want every little bit of it.

Things are definitely starting to get overwhelming with this wedding approaching in just 7.5 weeks. I need to get my butt in gear and start completing items on the to-do list! This was a little DIY project that I worked on a bit this weekend. I have a lot more to go, but this is a good start!

You Make Me Feel Like Burlap

This is one of my all-time favorite tablescapes. I don't know if it is the light and fresh color palette, the great textures it incorporates or what, but either way, I love it!

Now let's talk burlap just a little bit. The possibilities are endless when it comes to this fabric. I think burlap is just great for all those little details as it shows that everything to the last detail has been thought of and taken care of. Burlap mixed with chalkboards is just amazing. I definitely want to incorporate that into my lovely wedding, and for that matter, every other part of my life!

LOVE the chalkboard on burlap tags, those are just beyond amazing!

Have you thought about using burlap for your wedding?? How are you going to incorporate it?

I would love to see all those other fantastic ideas that everyone has!

Source: SMP, MSW, SMP With my venue pretty much in place, I am now starting to visualize an ACTUAL wedding, with actual decor in an actual space. This is quite an exciting part because I can start creating a space, and get into the details!

In one of the first posts I wrote, I disclosed my interesting wedding colors including a slight hint of zebra print! I have never found any zebra incorporated in a wedding until I saw that top photo on Style Me Pretty. The zebra fabric as part of the centerpiece is one of the things I was planning on doing. My centerpiece will be a lot different than that, but doesn't it look awesome with just a touch of zebra on the table??

As far as the favors, this is another thing I have always wanted to do-pie! In a nutshell, my grandma made some incredible apple pie. Every family get-together would include this apple pie of hers and it was always a family favorite (and every time it was highly requested.) Before she passed away I went over to her house and she taught me her techniques of the recipe and her little additions. I then sort of became the "pie person" at that point. I think it would be very cool if I made little pies as the favor for each guests in honor of my grandma :) (The downside-I am making all the pies! eeks) I would tie it with some baker's twine and a little personalized tag! Ador.

I want to do something really simple with the centerpieces, and those white flowers seem like a good idea! They have taken over as my favorite flower. But ranunculus is still pretty high on my list!

The first draft of the centerpieces are almost finalized. I am going to create a mock-up and then I will post those! How about you guys?? Any little details you are so excited about??

White and Yummy

This is not what my engagement party will look like, but I wish! So gorgeous, chic and WHITE! The party is this Saturday so next week you can look forward to actual pics of the party instead of just tons of ideas. I can't wait to get everything decorated so I can actually see all my ideas come (or not come) into fruition. The process will start tomorrow, that way I have a day to figure out where I went wrong and how I can fix it.

Though I sort of can't wait for this party to be over (due to the planning stress of it all) I am so excited to see it all come together. I have to say this was a smart idea in terms of practice for planning my wedding. I will be able to see how things go right or wrong, and how to mock it all up before-hand, so it all comes off without a hitch!

Lighting

Gorgeous setting that is both completely romantic and comfortable.

Candles and fireplaces make for a pretty setting while still adding in the romantic atmosphere.

No matter how you do it, lighting will set the mood and create a romantic ambiance for you and your guests. I love everything from candles and little white lights, to lanterns and fire pits. All of these add to the setting and make the space feel warm. So so Pretty!
