Adorn your Fete {Stylish Engagement Party Details}

In July, my mother threw us a beautiful engagement party. Every detail was perfect, and she and I had so much fun together creating personalized, detailed touches. Engagement parties are a fun time to begin thinking about all of the little details that will take over (your every waking moment for...) the next twelve months or so. In the weeks leading up to our party, I scoured Pinterest and Etsy for fun ideas. Here are a few of my favorites:

And here are a few favorites from my own engagement party, last July:

We had a blast making this fun banner. My mom is a ninja with scissors, let me tell you!

These little flags look beautiful, but the petit fours were so delicious that they disappeared in about a minute. They were fun to make though--toothpicks, silver permanent marker, and scrapbooking paper. Easy! I will definitely recreate these in the future.

Have you had an engagement party yet? Did you incorporate any fun little details? I would love to hear about them!

{Treats} Desserts on a Stick

Remember the cake pops I made for my engagement party? Well, I made those myself! Turns out there is a whole slue of "pops" I didn't even know about! I was obviously quite excited for all the possibilities and all the new recipes I could try! Which ones should I try next? Since everything is better in mini sizes, these little treats are perfect for bridal showers, engagement parties, or just a Saturday night :)

I happen to be a pie person, so I am super excited to make these pie pops. I think mini-macaroons would look just darling on sticks :) Definitely on my "to bake" list. Maybe I will expand out to all these items for my bridal shower, make it a continuation of the cake pops I did at the engagement party.

Have you ever made any of these or tried them?? What flavors are the best and what did you make them for??

Psst: Let's connect up over twitter or facebook! I'm an April 2011 bride planning my Holman Ranch wedding in Carmel Valley. Thanks for visiting!

Engagement Party Details - Treats

I loved the treat table! I went into this a bit already on the "Cakes Pops" post, so check it out if you want to find out how to make those cute cake balls or pops! I got the big diamonds, the napkins and the mason jars from Michaels. The orange and yellow vases were from Crate and Barrel. I am OBSESSED with them. Overall the treat table was a major hit! The little "Cake Pop" tags were made by Print Your Party as well!

I can't seem to find a full picture but we did has a banner from Tucker Reece which said "TREATS" to match the others!

I absolutely loved the details I added to the party! I do wish I had more pictures of the entire space but my brother took the camera for a long time. (If you want to see a ton of pictures of our fence and the flower garden, he took ample photos of that! haha) I'll gather more together and show them too! It was the best engagement party ever, definitely everything I could have asked for.

Engagement Party Details

It took me a bit, but I finally got all the pics together from the engagement party last weekend, and I am here to share! The event was held at my parent's house with about 50 close friends and family. We had a lot of cute details all about, such as the Cake Pops, and make sure to check out the pic of the two of us and the bridal party!

So, to get started, my parents have a Wet Bar which is incredibly convenient for events such as this! To decorate (prior to my taking them down, my mom had a few porcelain bunnies on display in these shelves which were not going to do!) I simply grabbed two black and white prints and a red planter box that were elsewhere in the house. I picked up two hurricane candle holders and two candles from target. As the event went on, I put all the wine corks in the candle jars which eventually made for a cute decoration. For the bottom shelf I just took a few of the bottles of wine and lined them up! It was such a simple decor process! The "BAR" banner was made by Tucker Reece which I thought added a fantastic personalized addition to the whole thing.

More of the little details to come, but let me show you what the end of the night brought...

Abonfire and lots of chatting :)

The Wedding Party

What a wedding party, huh???These photos are from our engagement party on Saturday :) The photos on the bottom are of my flower girl, Lily, and my Maid of Honor and sister, Becca.

I am so excited to be celebrating with them. So far they have been extremely helpful and I definitely don't know what I would do without them!

Dessert Table and Cake Pops

Suppies: The little white platters are from Crate and Barrel along with the amazing yellow vases which were $9.95 each. I got 4 big diamonds for decoration and the "i do" napkins from Michaels. I also picked up some mason jars from Michaels to put flowers in. The flowers were from Trader Joe's and were only $1.50 per bundle! The tags on the cake pops were made by Print Your Party. They added an amazing personalized touch!

The treat table was my favorite part! The cake balls and cake pops (all those little pink and white things on sticks) were an absolute hit! And well I am glad because I spent about 8 hours slaving away at those!

The idea was to make cake pops that look like the ones above. The mini cakes didn't turn out like that, but the balls didn't look too bad.

Bakerella provided some great instructions for how to make these and what supplies to use. After spending about $40 on the special chocolate, cookie cutters and pop sticks ( plus I had to pay a lot in shipping!) I went to Michael's and found all the same supplies there! So my one tip is to check your local craft store to save shipping costs.

(This is only about a quarter of all that I made) The recipe is really simple, it is just the actual sculpting, dipping, and drying that takes a long time. You basically mix a cake and a lot of frosting together to make the substance that holds it in a ball shape. The chocolate ones had too much frosting and the vanilla ones didn't have nearly enough- so error to the side of more frosting as it balls easier and stays moister! Oh and if you can help it, I don't suggest making them the day before unless you can store them upside-down overnight. Right before the party I had about 5 or 6 fall off the stick.

But in the end, all of them were eaten! :)

White and Yummy

This is not what my engagement party will look like, but I wish! So gorgeous, chic and WHITE! The party is this Saturday so next week you can look forward to actual pics of the party instead of just tons of ideas. I can't wait to get everything decorated so I can actually see all my ideas come (or not come) into fruition. The process will start tomorrow, that way I have a day to figure out where I went wrong and how I can fix it.

Though I sort of can't wait for this party to be over (due to the planning stress of it all) I am so excited to see it all come together. I have to say this was a smart idea in terms of practice for planning my wedding. I will be able to see how things go right or wrong, and how to mock it all up before-hand, so it all comes off without a hitch!

Engagement Party Outfit

I ordered all of this last night (along with a few other "necessary" but not engagement party related items) from Nordstrom last night.  Free shipping and I can return anything in the store (which is walking distance from my house). I haven't tried on the dress yet, but I am really hoping it looks fantastic! If not, but to square one with the dress shopping!

In terms of shoes, I can't decide. I LOVE the zebra print but there are 2 downsides: 1. I want to incorporate Zebra into my wedding and wedding shoes would be a great way. It's not decided but it is a possibility so I don't want to possibly wear them twice. 2. They are $200! eeks. As far as the black shoes, well, the pro is that I own them (by far my favorite pair of shoes I have ever purchased. I still get compliments on those) but the down side is that everyone knows I own them!

So what's a girl to do?? I am going to keep looking for shoes, but what are the thoughts on the outfit???
