I love this fabulous shoot we are posting today. And what a wonderful story behind this shoot. You can't let anything get in the way of your wedding day, but if things don't go according to the plan, sometimes you have to improvise. And as you can see here, that can be just as wonderful. "Winter storms and a power outage couldn't keep Rachel and Daniel from marrying. But as a result, they were only able to get one great picture of the two of them on their wedding day. Rachel always wanted to do a Day After session and redo that part of their day, so they both slipped back into their wedding gown and suit and stepped back in front of the camera. This Bohemian Romance session was a reflection of their free-spirited love that has just grown stronger over time. The deep rich colors and vintage accents combined with the vegetables and flowers beautifully reflect Rachel and Daniel's love of nature."
Inspired By Red
I don't know what has gotten into me recently. Red used to be the most repulsive color to me, especially in weddings. Not only do I find myself loving red in weddings now, I also find myself buying more red clothes and even wearing red lipstick. Its weird, I know. But I am embracing my newfound love for great color palettes such as this. There are plenty of ways incorporating red can be incred.
Tea Party Bridal Shower
There are so many fabulous details in this tea party-themed bridal shower. Seriously, so many fabulous little details! The concept is a vintage yet modern theme for the girls to celebrate in true bridal fashion with her closest friends before her big day. From vintage table settings to pearls mixed with some fabulous florals spread about. And the menu, filled with tea blends, yummy treats and of course, scones, makes for the perfect menu for a tea party!
A Simple Ceremony::Outdoor Decor
Sorry I've been gone for a few weeks, it turns out that planning a wedding and having a full-time job (like almost all of us do) sometimes can be a little overwhelming. But now I'm back and less than three months from my big day! Holy cow! I like saying less than three instead of a little over two (whenever I hear two, it makes me anxious). So, besides having an overwhelming amount of this to do (even though up until now, I've felt as if my planning was flawless), I am still constantly gathering new inspiration, which is absolutely KILLER if you are actually trying to make decisions. From all of the gobs of beautiful things I've seen, here's my plan for the ceremony. My ceremony will be outside my parents home under a lovely tree. I'll enter through our front door to rows of natural wood chairs and make a winding path around to the end of the aisle and all the way up to meet JB. I've always been in to a clean, somewhat industrial, earthy aesthetic (that makes sense, right), which I plan to carry through the ceremony. We won't have an altar, or really anything other than the tree up by where we'll stand, however, to make things festive, there are a few things that I've decided to add to the decor (only a few), so here's my guide for festive-ing up your ceremony.
1. Find something unique but simple that you can use again. My mom has always taught me two things about shopping: 1. buy for the long-haul 2. don't buy small stuff (she's not in to chotchkies). So heeding her advice (I've been making staple housewares purchases for years) and with her help, we found 5 beautiful round metal candle pieces that will hang in the tree behind us. One more piece of mom advice for making things look perfectly undone and chic, choose odd numbers, specifically 3 or 5.

2. Add something living. For me that's easy, the tree. However, at the end of the aisle I will also have a few (probably 3) pots or holders of some sort with living plants and I'll have a eucalyptus garland around the front door.
3. Keep it simple and stay true to yourself. This is what I've been struggling with! There are so many ideas that are beautifully executed to choose from that it is absolutely overwhelming, however, what I've been trying to remember to help decide what I do and don't want is: would I pick this any day, or just today? Think about you and your lovey's true style, what do you two like and go from there. For me and JB, it's simple, we don't like clutter or anything too girly. However I've been on the edge of buying and cutting pink ribbons for a ribbon curtain on multiple occasions. Here are a few more things that have almost made me drop all plans and start fresh.

Can you imagine a root beer themed wedding?! The BEST!
Are y'all having trouble making decisions? How are you decorating your ceremony?
Garden Chic Bridal Session
Let me start by saying that I absolutely love the St Albert Botanical Gardens. What a gorgeous location :) These gardens with this fabulous dress are just perfect together. And if you haven't already tried a real floral headpiece, this is one extremely romantic addition to your wedding day look, promise!
wedding timeline & color inspiration {so far so good}
When I got engaged September 12, 2011 I truly had NO idea what it would take to plan a wedding. Reading magazines and discovering that the average woman takes about a year to plan a wedding was surprising to me. To look back just 5 months ago to where I was and where I am now... WOW, I've come a long way, baby. I've laughed, I've cried and I almost convinced Vinnie to elope. But I have to say, at this point in the planning process I feel good. I have approx 7 1/2 months until my big day. I may not be exactly on the "Brides Magazine" countdown, but I'm comfortable with where I'm at...Here's what I've accomplished thus far :
- Budget
- Venue
- Guest Count & Bridal Party
- Wedding website (thank you www.modwedding.com for the fabulous & chic site! Oh, did I mention it was FREE?!?)
- The Dress (gorgeous Elizabeth Fillmore gown for 75% off....SCORE!)
- Met with a wedding planner
- Scouted Photographers and Videographers (still need to hire one, but not stressing about it.... yet)
- Color Palette: Light Grey & Yellow with Succulent Green Accents
- Save the Dates (below) I love them and they're going out TODAY!!
- Meet with vendors to plan the details (flowers, rentals, menu, cake, drinks)
- Lock down our photographer/videographer
- Order the invitations
- Shop for bridesmaids outfits
- Research & book the honeymoon (Yippee)
- Select our officiant
I feel like I've finally gotten into the groove of wedding planning. I'm having fun and communicating better with my fiance... he likes to be kept in the loop and lend his opinions on things too! How are you doing with your timeline? Are you ahead of your own schedule? Any tips for staying focused and not stressing?
Inspired By Games Inspiration Shoot
Each of these games were classics when we were growing up, and probably far before that. Using games as the inspiration behind this shoot, this group created something with non-traditional colors and vibrant pops all about. Each game is displayed in a clever way perfect for anyone to incorporate into their big day. There are tons of easily reproduced DIY elements, such as; scrabble board menus, monopoly board invites with money as the response cards, and Pictionary drawings for place cards. The cake and flowers played off the fun elements that you generally see with board games.
Love this table with the game signs and suitcases. The styling is just super cute.
Gold Details - A Wedding Must
I don't know what it is about gold that gets me every time, but I just love it oh so much. Gold accents and glitter all around is a great addition to any wedding, with literally any color palette. The romance of these lavish touches make for some of the best details and some of the prettiest details. What gold details are you adding to your wedding? Here are a few fabulous ideas that are sure to go very far in your overall design.

Blowing In The Wind {Ribbon Decor}
Somewhat unintentionally, a theme has emerged in some of my decorative ideas: Ribbons. And I have to say, I’m okay with this! I’ve always loved the look of ribbons on the back of the chairs, but I’m starting to think about incorporating ribbons throughout the wedding. I love the way they blow in the wind and create such a whimsical feeling. They kind of remind me of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ribbons (or paper or fabric streamers) can provide a great backdrop for a space. I’m also thinking about using them to divide up and define some of the spaces at our venue, all while not obstructing the amazing views.

I am in love with this ribbon chandelier! If not for our wedding, maybe for our house....

I also love the ribbon wands as an alternative to flowers for the flower girl. So cute!

I started a little ribbon shopping this weekend; here are some initial favorites. I’m thinking that I can buy some of the fancier (and more expensive) ribbon in small quantities and mix it in with less expensive craft ribbon.

Do you have a good resource for reasonable ribbon, fabric or other craft supplies? I’d love to check it out!
Cake-O-Rama
This weekend JB and I finally had a real cake tasting! We'd been to a different bakery a few weeks ago, but we didn't get to try any of the fun flavors (which is what we're interested in), so this week, we ordered samples from a well-loved local bakery and tasted away! We made notes and each made a secret ordered list of our favorite flavors before comparing. You'll have to wait and see which flavors we picked, but look at these tiny adorable tasting cakes!
After tasting all of the cakes, we decided that one flavor just isn't enough. Instead of having one huge cake, we're going to have three cakes. Our main cake will be two-tiered and then we'll have two single-tiered smaller cakes to make an adorable little trio. This weekend I found some really neat antique stands for the cakes (that you'll have to see later), but I'll let you know that they are vey unique! I've always like very simple cake decorations and toppers, nothing too fancy or over the top. Here are a few of my favorites:
What are you doing? One cake? Multiples? No cake at all?
