The Cupcake Bar

So many things in the world are totally awesome, but this one beats them all. Seriously, a CUPCAKE BAR?! Now that is cool. Just like with an ice cream bar, guests can add all sorts of toppings to create their perfect little treat. Build it on your own, add this idea to any bridal shower, party or even, yep a wedding. As someone who isn't the biggest fan of the cupcake craze,  I have to say, this puts me in my place about the whole thing! Let the cupcake building begin!

Food Truck Phenom

First, let me just say that looking up photos of food trucks while eating the delicious dinner my fiancé made and enjoying a glass of wine is fantastic. Almost as fantastic as eating a delicious dinner and enjoying a glass of wine with my fiancé AT a food truck, but hopefully we'll get to do that next year. Second, I promise I'm not a hipster, but I love food trucks. They give me a warm, cozy feeling like you know it's a bunch of good friends getting together and chowing down. I mean, we all know food trucks are no longer the slimy, fatty, grease trucks with some vague semblance of Mexican food anymore. Now they're AWESOME!

It's quickly becoming a wedding trend to have a food truck at your reception to give it that backyard, home-cooked feeling that's better than dad wearing an apron and standing around the barbecue all day.

We aren't able to have a food truck at our wedding because our venue comes with an amazing organic farm-to-table caterer. While that fits one side of us perfectly, that other side of us loves greasy, delicious food truck food! So the compromise? We're planning on having a food truck for the rehearsal dinner.

Doesn't that look so inviting?

Seabirds in Los Angeles is one of my favorites

The girl below hired three food trucks for her 110 person wedding. How much did it cost her? $3,580.

Dessert trucks or mobile bars are also a really fun idea!

Of course there are lots of restrictions to be aware of before hiring a food truck. Permits, permission, curb clearance, and potential lines are all something to consider. But hey, if you can do it, DO IT.

I am patiently waiting for the amazing No Worries Filipino vegan cuisine team to make their transition into the food truck world. Common guys!

Have any of you used a food truck for your wedding? Have you been to a wedding that featured a food truck? How was it?

Pies + Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving. I was thinking about what I wanted to post about today, it being Thanksgiving and all. Yes, I could talk about giving thanks, but this is my slightly off way of giving thanks.

Today I'm posting ALLLLL about pies. But not just because pie is awesome, but because it has been a very special thing in my life since before I could remember. You see, my Grandma was a big pie person. She would make them all the time, and she was pretty damn good at it. It was always my favorite thing about holidays.

Before she passed she gave me her recipe and taught me how to make pies and the crust like she does. I don't think I have yet mastered this, but it is now something that I love to make all the time as well. This is what Thanksgiving reminds me of, and the fact that it is becoming a wedding trend is totally my favorite thing thing because I love them oh so much.

Mini Pies + Mini Pie Makers {Awesome}

I was so so obsessed with making mini pies for my wedding. I wanted to have little pie favors for each guest seeing as I am a major pie maker and obsessor. The reason I switched from pies to jam near the end of the planning was because of the logistics. I really couldn't figure out how to make 100 mini pies a few days before the wedding and have it actually work out, not to mention look good! So my excitement of the day came when I found this little thing that would literally solve my problems. (Good thing I am 6 months late in finding this and the wedding has long past. Maybe for the vow-renewal?)

First, I will show some of my faves in the pie department. I can't get enough.

So why am I so excited? Because this little $25 mini pie maker device would have saved me lots and lots of trouble and maybe I would have actually gone through with my original plans! A mini-pie maker! AHHHH. I'm in love. Or you could go with the Breville Mini Pie Maker version found at William Sonoma for $99.

Oh and if you are a fan of mini pies on a stick (and who isn't a fan of mini-mini pies!) They even have something to make that job a WHOLE lot easier.

Studio Cake + Inspired Collective

I am sure you have heard the news by now! Inspired Collective, our wedding and event design studio is open for business in Downtown Campbell. Right now I am full-force on making our Grand Opening bash a massive success!

As far as the desserts go, we are lucky enough to have Studio Cake bringing over lots of wonderful sweets for all to enjoy. Studio Cake is a bakery located in Menlo Park that creates some gorgeous designs for weddings, among other things. And boy are they talented! Beth Ann, the fab owner, has won the Food Network cake challenge not once but TWICE! She has also been on Eye on the Bay and the Martha Stewart Show!

She will be providing a gorg-o cake for the affair, and it is safe to say the design is going to be something to see.

Here are but a few of her amazing creations...and literally the wonderful cake designs go on and on when you check out her website! I am beyond thrilled to have such wonderful company amongst us and can't wait to eat up all the yumminess!

RSVP for the Grand Opening Bash on Facebook and invite all your friends. It is going to be a great time!

Dessert Bars + The Awesomeness of Backdrops

A long standing trend is obviously the dessert bar, and these are just killer examples. I love the idea of an epic backdrop like reclaimed wood or brick or even ribbon, oh how I love the ribbon. This is always a great way to display desserts. I hope this is a trend that takes out cakes all together for a fun and fresh way to enjoy many different desserts during the wedding.

{Desserts} Sweet Tables

Dessert tables are a super fun way to present treats to your guests in a non-traditional way. I love tables that use a variety of different items of decor to create a unique table. The use of furniture and lots of frames and jars along with those personal details that make your style yours are the best way to go about table design. Choose some of your favorite treats and don't be afraid to be as fun as you want. Brownies, s'mores, ice cream sundaes and other fun treats would be totally cute.

As far as my plans, I am creating a dessert bar of sorts for the bridal shower. We are hosting a brunch so it will be a combo of sweet and savory items for the 20 some guests in attendance.

Hearting This Cake

I'm having one of those "Spill the Beans" moments right about now! I saw this and I HAD to share, even though I know better than to blurt out each and everything about my life...Oh well, here goes. The thought process came about when I was thinking how slightly boring some bridal showers and baby showers can be. It is really nothing against the people, I actually blame it on the time of day, what is there to do from 2-4 on a Sunday anyway? I decided to do a bridal shower brunch because it gives people a definite thing to do (eating amazing croissant french toast) instead of just sitting around. The theme and color palette of a brunch is also totally amazing, and though I barely ever eat it, brunch is my fave meal.

I then had this amazing idea that I plan to facilitate for my baby shower.  To peak the interest of people and give the event something exciting to do, I have decided to create a mystery. Basically the invites won't say if I'll be having a boy or a girl. When everyone comes we'll have a game where everyone guesses. And finally, the answer will be revealed. In the middle of a cake. Yep! A Cake! If it is a girl the inside of the cake will be pink and if it is a boy, the inside will be blue. To take it one step further, I am most definitely doing this cake idea.

Now I can't wait for my babes shower...

{Guest Post} Love Birds by Jacin of She Said Yes

So who is the guest blogger of today??  Today we have the wonder Jacin of She Said Yes. She is a great friend and someone with a head full of amazing inspiration. Today we are all in luck as she has prepared something really fun and really amazing for us all. Enjoy! I am so excited to be guest blogging for the lovely Allison today - her blog is filled with so much inspiration and that is right up my alley.  Thanks for having me over today, Allison!

So without further ado, here I go!

A recent trend we've seen popping up in weddings lately is incorporating the love bird - or birds of any kind, really - in to the overall wedding theme.  There are so many creative ideas out there and it was hard to whittle down my favorites, but I did my best!  Below, find some "love bird" inspiration boards in the following categories: cake toppers, paper design, and my favorites.

Cake Toppers I love these, they are each so different and could really help "top off" your lovebird theme.

Paper Design I love the color scheme in the teal/brown invite suite below, along with the tiny details involved in the letterpress.  And the wedding "poster" is so adorable too!

My Favorites Below are just a few of my favorite images I came across when searching for inspiration.  I love the ring shot on the birdhouse - so unique!

Thanks again Allison, and happy planning!
